I am looking for a book on identifying, evaluating, and executing Internet business opportunities. I want it to be less about specific tactics (adsense, testing, etc) and more about general concepts. The Getting Real book by 37 signals is along the lines of what I am looking for, but I am hoping for something better. Also, I am looking for a book that gives serious treatment to the topic, not a "get rich quick" guide.

I would also be interested in a book about a specific Internet business (eBay, Shopzilla, etc.) with lessons that could be generalized to other Internet businesses. For instance, I recently picked up a book called Founders at Work. I haven't read it yet, but I am hoping in some of the stories of Internet-related businesses contain general lessons.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I don't know if this is the right book for you but I found it to be
quite helpful to me. Its Jeremy Palmer's " Quit Your Day Job".

Both "why to" and "how to". Goes from A to Z. Guys does over a million
a year in affiliate marketing. Has only written this one book and
seems to be a straight shooter, in other words not a hype master.

Give it a look, he has a web site. Hope this helps. King Fisher

These sort of books are hard to find, I was in Cambridge this morning looking for similar in the 'serious' book shops on Trinity Street, you know what?

I couldnt find one.

Amazon has some on increasing conversion but thats about it.

It's dated, but the general thrust remains valid today: Crossing the Chasm by Geoffrey A. Moore.
