The best I have had is 1 gigabyte from orange 6 month contract!

I use a Vodafone datacard and I do find that its performance is slow and it's expensive to use. This is especially so when you add roaming charges. See if you can get a demo, or trial before you sign up, and look closely at the roaming charges.
