Spam Email Going Completely Frantic

I'm surely not the only one with a sudden increase?

The amount of spam arriving at the server increased substantially in 2006 - Summer or Autumn, if I remember correctly. At one point it even reached saturation when the host ignored it for a couple of days. With Xmas over, I hoped to get a little respite...

A couple of days ago it began to swell even above the previous level. Just how many bot machines do these characters own?

and why wouldn't it be growing exponentially - what with financial returns, apparantly, to the spammers, and no serious government actions against them - why wouldn't it be growing.

Spam skyrocketed during that period, but has dropped a bit since Christmas. Main culprit was penny stock hype. Sometimes we received 30 emails a day pumping one stock.

We have seen a surge this past week, again related mostly to penny stocks.

Interesting trend in stock spam: Emails no longer talk up the stock's business prospects (usually non-existent). I've got some that don't even say what the company does. Instead the emails focus on the gambling aspects of a purchase: "Buy It Monday Before it's too Late."

Of course, On Monday insiders sell heavily.
