Some of the world's wealthiest gourmands will be jetting into Thailand this weekend, enticed by a banquet sprinkled with Michelin stars.

All I can say is the menu sounds absolutely amazing, and while I think the whole thing is a little stupid to say the least, I am available if anyone has a spare seat.....(as long as I do not have to pay the US$ 29,000 price tag).

added in: BTW - While I love the menu, did anyone else think of Hannibal Lecter when reading it?

He defended the event over its entirely European menu, despite its remit to show off the best of Thailand. "What we want to do is to improve the standard and inspire Thai chefs to raise their level of inspiration," he said. "There is only one Michelin-starred Thai restaurant in the world, and that's in London, has an Australian head-chef and a Singaporean owner."

So he doesn't like Thai food and wants to inspire their chefs to cook something else? Bah! I LOVE Thai food. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun, wish I was there...

Probably has a lot more to do with the fact they could never charge US$ 29,000 for Thai food!

For European food the menu is top notch.

Ps. Tax will be 7% and service charge at least 10%!
