A UK cabbie has broken the previous speed record for a petrol-driven reciprocating-engined vehicle by clocking up an impressive 420mph in a 30mph zone in Newport, Gwent.

Back in 2004, sales manager Peter O’Flynn was captured by a speed camera in Cheshire doing 406mph in a humble Peugot - a record now shattered by Tom Matthews' 12-year-old Vauxhall Cavalier.

On this basis. there's hope for everyone to become an F1 driver. Obviously, speed cameras never lie. LOL

Unusual for a cab driver to go that fast...

only a stoner programmer would get that.. I don't get it. ;) When the robots rule, there will be no arguing the case. At least this poor bloke got an apology.

some programmers are good at recognizing patterns, use common research tools, get the joke, and enjoy the influence of stoners on technology and culture.
hint: watch for clocks in advertising...

>speed camera in Cheshire doing 406mph

And this speed camera was located at 2000+ ft...? No way you could be on the ground at 406 mph...lmao!

Forget the speeding fine...did he have a pilots license?

Dang, he went faster than anything British Airways have to offer these days.....I'd give that Cabbie a season ticket for my Florida to London flights!

the land speed record for an internal combustion engine exceeded 406mph more than 40 years ago...

I'm glad to see we can rely on speed cameras that are 100% accurate.

100% accurate! Of course they are.

I recall seeing a speed camera picture of a squirrel running across the road at 46mph then there was teh lorry driver caught speeding a traffic jam, lucky for him his taco graph proved thr camera was wrong.

There used to be one on the way to teh Newmarket race course people kept attacking it soon took it down.
