Well, that time has come again to start the official WebmasterWorld Happy New Year thread. My how time flies. It seems only yesterday that I was pontificating a la Dr Seuss for the new year of 2006, and here it is gone already.

And what a year it was! 2006 has proven to be as frustrating, productive, controversial and just plain interesting as almost any year on the net. Many doors were opened just as many more were closed. The price of entry rose for some, the cost of success lowered for others, and it seems we had more Patent filings than at which you could poke with a blunt stick. Not so many mergers in the SE arena this year, but then, we did have Ms Dewey. ;)

It has been interesting to watch the commercialisation of the net take off even more so in the last twelve months with more players in both the PPC and Publishing arenas, and current growing concern over the apparent lack of transperancy in Search Marketing and Blog Marketing.

The early days of the World Wild West may be over, but the online marketplace has a long way to go yet before being a mature and stable environment, if that ever happens of course. The opportunities are endless. If anything, I am reminded of the line from Back to the Future III where Doc says "~ your future hasn't been written yet. No one's has. Your future is whatever you make it. So make it a good one ~".

So, may I wish all of you all the very best for 2007, and no-matter what you decide to do, "make it a good one!"

My wife woke me up and made me kiss her. Then I went back to sleep.

LOL! My wife did the same. I must be getting old.

Happy New Year!

I'm no expert by any means. WebmasterWorld has been an invaluable resource to me, but I'm still what I'd describe as a hobbyist with a programming job (among other tech related duties). For 2007 I am hoping to move away completely from tables for layout, make my sites completely ADA compliant, and start picking up PHP. My question for you is, what steps for the new year are you taking in order to make yourself a better webmaster? Unless of course you are a master already and have no new technology to take advantage of ;)

HAPPY 2007 EVERYBODY!

I'm taking a more in depth look at AJAX.

Hope to see you around the PHP Forum ;)
