I sort of lost touch with the site stats for a while.
Just looking at it over the weekend I notice I get 10K visistors / month - 95% look at 1 page and are gone.
Turns out, I've finally figured out my domain is essentially the same as an airport code for a very busy asian airline and people type it in thinking they are getting flight info or something, then they see they are at the wrong place and then they're gone.
(Suffice to say the original site has nothing to do with travel in Asia..)
Here's the deal - I posted in Foo to see if I can get a LOT of creative ideas as to what to do... I've got plenty, but I want to see what kinds of fun and serious things you all come up with.
Sort of like brainstorming?
Let it fly!
thanks,
C.
Yes, the site has PR of 5 last time I checked.
Also, I don't speak any asian languages and I KNOW the biggest orgination of traffic is Beijing!
OK, so _how_ do I do this without befalling the scammers and such?
Now that is a trick which if you want a straght forward answer tailored to your needs you need to pay for.
If you are satisfied with getting a million contradictory answers, going down wrong way streets and learning through trial and error, then you can start by reading this forum, and continue your reasearch on your choice SE.
Or you could skip the affiliate game, let others play that and get secure adsence cash.
Plus the link selling can get you some money, PR5 links in the travel industry are not free ya know.
Not quite interested in selling but I might rent or partner.
I'm quite familiar with the trial and error approach and this looks like a road I would rather not take at this point.
Particularly since I just verified a good chunk of the traffic is definately coming from China PRC and Taiwan.
Next question - since this is about China, Europe based travelling people who are doing the typing-in, any quick advice on cloaking so that visitors from the US get one site and elsewhere get another?
Is there domain parking that starts with a cloak?
(Where's that guy in the orange blazer when you need him?)
The other thought I had was to try dayparting - serve one site 9am to 9pm (east coast time) and then the other 9pm - 9am to get the other side of the hemisphere?
Using DNS doesn't seem to fit my situation as it takes too long to propogate.
