You meet the stupidest people online

You gotta wonder at times...

I participate or monitor a few newsgroups, forums etc.

And from time to time I see things that just make me wonder if Darwins Law still works.

For example, in one of the MS newsgroups, some guy was bragging about his masters degrees, and in the same message complaining that the CSS he wrote in an MS program did not validate - and it was all Notepads fault...

Another one I came across a couple of days ago, someone was complaining about Acrobat was not converting their .jpeg files to text.

Reminds me of that great line from M Night Shyamalan's "Sixth Sense":

"I see stupid people everywhere. And they don't know they're stupid"

Or something like that ;)

online or offline stupid people are everywhere...sometimes I feel like I am watching Springer in 3D.

our elected leaders are simply a reflection of the collective mentality of the electorate...a solid supposition to support the premise.

Devil's advocate, do not confuse ignorance with lack of intelligence. I don't expect a doctor to know much about HTML.

But I agree, it's human nature to blame something external rather than review your own limitations, and is pretty embarrassing once you come to the realization . . . I've been bitten by that one enough times myself to know. :-)

Yet more reason to require a test to get a driver's license before being able to drive the information superhighway. Or at least restricting non-qualified people to the slow lane. :)

Heh- an image just popped into my head of a newbie grandma toddling around online in the fast lane (with her blinker on, of course), and the rest of the Internet is backed up behind her. I wondered why my AdSense stats were slow today...

What was stupid about his particular comment was his assumption that just because he had some totally unrelated degrees, that any mistakes made in any other field were obviously not his.

THAT was the stupid part.
