This has never realy made sense to me and is hitting the news big time.

I dont understand!

If somebody else applys for a credit card or loan in your name surly the bank just sends the card to your address!

They do credit checks!

Even if they get it sent to there address the police can trace them.

its crazy.

I think it's that the rest of us do understand how it works ..and figure that if you don't ..after 2 years on fora ..that it could be a 3 asperin conversation ..;-)

rest of us do understand how it works

Some people might not have Ecommerce type websites and never really deal with ID theft, online fraud etc etc.

the OP is talking ( in his post )about ID theft as it relates to offline stuff such as loan applications and asking for money / credit cards from banks ..

relative to online ID fraud ( subject covered in many threads in the ecommerce fora here over the years )

it's ...chalk and cheese ..

and still blindingly obvious how it works ne'ertheless .

The lenders are not doing a good job, it's true. But the crooks are crafty. They'll send in a change of address, for example. Or, they'll stalk your mailbox. Etc.

I do not know anyone who has not been hit at least in a minor way.

if i recieve an order i send to the registered address - if somebody specifies a different sending address i would query that!

So how comes the banks dont?

Even the big boys on the net!
