One of the BBC headlines said "Heavy mobile use damages sperm".

My assumption is that this only applies if you carry your heavy mobile in a front trouser pocket, especially if you do "hands free", but what do I know about linguistic ambiguities in the English language? B^>

I watched the BBC report on this on the 1pm news. I don't use my mobile that often and being home based it is normally in the other room.

Anyway, at my age, and with three grandsons my sperm count is no longer at the top of my priority list. ;)

Interesting idea. Carrying out a study on fertility on people in a fertility clinic that have come there because they already have problems with their fertility.

Thats like carrying out a study on alcoholism in an alcohol treatment center.

And again the typical false logic of "Cum hoc ergo propter hoc" (correlation implies causation) reasoning.

Just because A occurs in correlation to B it necessarily does not cause B. About time they start making statistics a mandatory subject at university.

First, they should make having done even basic science at school manditory before writing science stories in the press and elsewhere...

The BBC isn't actually that bad on science, but my dad, by virtue of being almost the only person with a science degree or two anywhere near broadcasting, has effectively become the public face of BBC science and technology...

Isn't that the best place for it?

You certainly don't have to scratch around for study material...

I read the results rather differently - my hypothesis is that males with low sperm count tend to be constantly yammering into their cell phones while the guys whose cup runneth over are otherwise occupied. You know, the old saying: 'those who can, do, while those who can't, talk on their cell phones about it'.

The mobile manufacturers and operators may send me my PR spin cheques anytime now :-)

Hi,

I suspect that they are lining up Tazers and baliffs right now. Brickbats not bouquets...

unless we chat all freaking day, a high sperm count will be useless; it takes two to tango.

It does take two to Tango, but, chatting and "Tangoing" are not relative "sports"!

Whatever happened to the UK phrase "All talk, and no trousers!"?

I'm married, so I don't need (or want) to own a mobile phone...LOL! After many years with one I decided 6 years ago that it was nothing more than a set of handcuffs, and promptly killed it!

The "Mafia" had the right idea, all conversations should take place in bed or in the park.....truly romantic and it doesn't damage your sperm count!
