Paypal eCheques

Does anyone here pay for anything with Paypal eCheques?

I used to just pay for things via Paypal with a debit card, but when I reached my account's limit I was asked to provide my bank details so that funds could be taken directly out of my account.

Now when I go and make a payment it uses a Paypal eCheque and this can take 7-10 days for the payment to clear! Can I go back to the debit card payment system? At the moment it is slower than writing and sending off a tradional cheque! :o

I though that PayPal tried to debit your registered card first and then debited your bank account as a last resort? That's what happened to me.
