Toshiba is to replace about 340,000 laptop computer batteries worldwide, the third recall of faulty batteries made by Sony since mid-August.The batteries, used in Toshiba's Dynabook and Dynabook Satellite laptops made between March and May of this year, could lose all their power.
However, unlike Dell and Apple last month, Toshiba said there was no risk of the faulty batteries catching fire.

Again batteries made by Sony causing problems!
I get the feeling that the chances are high that any Li-ion laptop battery currently bursting with energy (!) has a good chance of being made (or put together) by Sony.
Anyone know what their %age of the world market is?
I also suspect that the specifications of the laptop manufacturer to Sony (eg how much to spend on safety engineering) have a large bearing on safety.
Thus, I'm hoping that the hefty premium I paid for my Sony Vaio laptop goes some way to keeping it from exploding in my lap...
