"MAUCHE, Kenya (Reuters) - Kenyan followers of a U.S.-based religious sect which predicted the world would end after a September 12 outbreak of nuclear war moved into bunkers on Wednesday despite the failure of their prediction.
...
"Those who have been doubting us will in hours be ashamed and if the effect of the war is not felt here, then let the police arrest us," Mosheh Sang, leader of the sect in Kenya, told journalists while packing sacks of flour into a bunker."

Please report from different locations, e.g., I'm in (insert part of) England and we're all fine; we survived :)

I'm in L.A. I'm not sure anyone else survived- I don't see anyone else around.

Just to make sure, let me peek outside my cubicle...

Oh, OK, never mind. I see other people. Carry on.

Hi,

I got a lot of hits on my site from LA and from the UK, oh and actually most places outside Africa.

So maybe *they* have gone, but I think that I am thinking so I think that I still am...

I used to have my car detailed at a place down the street. It was convenient, as it was just a couple of blocks away.

However, the owner starting getting really flakey. He started not being there at the appointed time. Then on a couple of occasions he had locked-up the place in the middle of the day, without first calling me, leaving my car inside, or parked somewhere and then me having to do an easter-egg hunt for the keys. (He left them at my front gate on one occasion.)

I decided to discontinue the service.

Then, one day, I get a hand-delivered letter from him. I figured it was an apology, and an attempt to get my business back.

Nope. It was a printed letter to all of his clients, announcing that he had moved to another location, "as the previous location is unsafe, and would not survive the coming earthquake on 6/6/06".

I guess that is what had gotten him all in a tither...

I can confirm that I am alive and well in Widgetville, Old Europe (though I cannot rule out that this is the afterlife and it is much more mundane than I imagined).

Florida, USA, here.

Survived recent 6.0 earthquake in the Gulf of Mexico (although it did wake me up in bed). US Government HAARP machine has initiated high-altitude wind shear to disperse hurricanes this season. No furthur DOOM warnings at this time.

I am in Nairobi, Kenya. Everything is fine here, no nuclear war yet! Just some small matinal rains which are unusual for this period of the year...

Maasais' cow are really enjoy it and I am sure that Maasais believe it is a blessing of God (called "Ngai") to thanks the Maasai community for the 14 cows they gave to US after the 9/11.

More seriously, there is indeed freedom of worship in the country and you realy see all kind of churches and sects... In fact, most of Kenyan land is owned by a chuch/sect. And, indeed, we saw lastly many new Chineses/Koreans organising crusade and "science-fiction healing" live show!

Hi BBW,

I found that if I drank too much 70/- (Tartan Special) that the passing of the world was in danger of going unnoticed, or at least seen as a hangover cure. Filth.

So, I reformed, and got hammered on Cally 80/- from then on...

Caledonian 80/-, second only to Deuchar's IPA during a holocaust.

Hi,

Actually, it might have to be Deuchar's (known as "Duck's A*se" round here) for the next extinction event, since the IPA is much easier to get a pint of than 80/- in the wilds of London...

There's hope for them yet
Many groups have flourished from failed prophecies by revising the original claims and saying the event occurred in heaven not earth, or the event should be upon us within a generation, or that the event is on it's way. Time is forgiving to failed prophecies and wiggle room is infinite in these matters. ;)

My favorite part:
"Underground water was seeping into the hideouts which police said would weaken the structures."

"But the cult's followers said it was Yahweh's (Hebrew for God) way of providing water for them."

Hi Terabytes,

Aw, WI is not *that* bad. I went there once, for a day. Nothing needed nuking IMHO, at least not so badly as parts of my native Yorkshire anyway... B^>

I am in the Nortwest USA.. all is well here...

I am more concerned about the asteroid that is going to come within 35,000 miles of Earth on April 13, 2029..
(I have been practicing my ducking...so it won't hit me on the head).. this is a real danger...because once it does it's close encounter..it passes by again 7 years later...and the gravitational pull of Earth just might have modified its orbit enough for an actual collision...(and because of the size of this thing...I don't think a bunker will get you through it...)...
more like NOAD accomodations in Colorado...!

All other claims of "this coming" or "disaster striking that" .. are bogus...just plain old fear mongering...to herd the targeted flock ...
