Events of the past several years have created changes. For some those changes are readily apparent. For others, well they might not ever even notice. Then there are those who get caught up in the middle of it through little or no fault of their own.

I just read humorous narrative [forums.worldofwarcraft.com] about an IPod, an airplane, and what happened when the IPod landed in the toilet of said airplane. The story is a first person account from the fellow who, umm, dropped his Ipod.

Enjoy :)

And I thought I created a stir when I accidentally 'left' a bag at the end of the x-ray conveyer belt. When I realized my mistake and went to retrieve the bag there was a small army waiting for me.

There's another one on The Register about a man being told to wear his guns'n'roses t-shirt inside out in case it frightened other passengers - see [theregister.co.uk...]

To see just how frightening the chap looked with the t-shirt on see The Sun - [thesun.co.uk...]

Scary stuff indeed - Birmingham are very lucky to have such highly trained airport security :)

Actually the iPod one doesn't seem that unreasonable to me.

Think about what the security staff actually know for sure:
1) there's an electronic device stuck in the toilet and they can't tell what it is,
2) one of the passengers says he put it there and says its harmless.

To me it seems pretty reasonable that they're not prepared to take his statements at face value - I've heard these terrorists aren't always entirely truthful. :)

best, a.

New era?

When I was growing up (about 30 years ago) a section of my country was in turmoil. Two factions were fighting each other in a guerilla-style war. The ruling government were trying their best to broker peace, but the people carried on fighting.

We suddenly had armed policeman patrolling the streets, army camps became high security areas and anybody with the wrong sort of accent suddenly became a suspect of terrorist activity.

So what's new? This kind of activity has spread to other parts of the world previously considered safe from this kind of issue.
