The launch of Sony's long-awaited PlayStation 3 games console in Europe has been delayed until March 2007.Ken Kutaragi, head of Sony's global computer entertainment division, said the machine would still be launched in November in the US and in Japan.
Mr Kutaragi blamed the European delay on problems in mass producing elements of the high-definition Blu-ray disc drives in the machines.
Not great news for Sony and European gamers. Microsoft must be laughing...
I for one am not overly impressed that Sony has decided to favour Japan and the US over European countries.
The BBC is running a poll to see whether or not this has put people off buying a PlayStation 3 - just now 66% of respondants have said that it has.
Personally I'm not convinced its really going to hurt unit sales - but I imagine that lots more people will have bought one or both of the other consoles by that time.
I don't really bother with consoles anymore - but I am considering buying the wii. I like the idea of a controller that you essentially use as you would a tennis bat, lightsabre etc :)
