[space.com ]

Its look bad for a while (with 12 plus planets) but finally rigorous scientific study won over stupid human emotions.

This is a great day for science.

Its even the top story on CNN right now. Nice to see that a science article take priority over death and violence, on CNN, for a change.

Apparently Pluto has been demoted to "Dwarf Planet" status. Shouldn't that be "Cosmologically challenged"? I'm sure you can't say dwarf these days...

I expect a lawsuit from the Plutonians any light year now.

Now we only have 8 planets? A whole planet's gone missing when just the other day someone thought they saw maybe 2 or 3 new planets that hadn't been known to the masses even a few weeks earlier?

Ok, ok, who's the dim bulb that let the SE's tinker with the solar system!?!

Larry reduced Pluto's Pagerank at the Googleplex.

Did anyone else see a Death Star in the neighborhood?

And to think that I spent all that time in school to learn the stupid rhyme...

Not to mention my kids sing the Blues Clues planet song all the time. What am I going to tell them?

A light year, is that one that has a third less calories that a regular year?

The real reason is that the Kuiper Belt has been attempting to spam the inner solar system with fake planets.

I hope Marvin the Martian is not involved in weapons trade with the Plutonians.

Or else the last thing us earthlings will hear, is the earch shattering kaboom, from the Eludium Pew-36 Explosive Space Modulator :)

This is just another example of how the little guy is getting shut down by the larger players. Pluto's loss of planet status is Wal-Mart's fault. It wouldn't be surprised to learn that Google had something to do with it as well.

I've heard debates that they want to add another two or three planets, but they are depating it along the lines "now we have to reprint all this crap, let's just pretend there are only 9 :)" Seen this on the news, not sure how correctly it was present or understood by self.
