For me, I've been resisting the idea of choosing a track for the obvious reason that I don't want to think of my funeral! But two songs have worked their way into my head as possible candidates to be played:
1. Marvin Gaye - What's Going On. The lyrics go something like "Brother, brother... there's too many of us dying". It's a really smooth piece that might work well.
2. Philip Glass - It Was Always You, Helen. Came across this recently (it's from the Candyman soundtrack) and had to download it. Lovely piano verses and powerful organ chorus.
I'm sure though that there must be more suitable choices. (A long time ago I was just going to play my favourite records, but I don't think Tangerine Dream and Yes would go down too well!)
So what would you choose, and why?

In both cases the words are very relevant and the music seems very fitting.
As someone who is about to get married again I would welcome ideas for something triumphal to walk out to, nothing religious (it is a civil ceremony) and preferably not classical, definitely not country and no heavy metal. All my suggestions so far have almost caused a divorce before the marriage and as I want to have some input into the musicality of the day I have tit for tat vetoed her choices. So any help would be appreciated.

The husband of a friend just got diagnosed with an inoperable tumor and has weeks to live. It's really changed my perspective on life - less sweating the small stuff, etc.
And if my wife survives me, I'd request Birds:

I don't know about anyone else, but if I heard anything at all during my funeral, I'd be less interested in the music and more interested in hollering loud enough that someone would let me out of the coffin! Scary thought...

My coffin in the center aisle on top of it a dance floor about 8 feet square.
A Flamenco dancer dressed in red and black and a spanish guitar raging.
I giant barbeque afterwards.
Then I want to be pulled out and taxidermied in the Flamenco outfit with a hidious grin and pose and given to my niece.
She will inherit my fortune and get a check every year only as long as I am visible in the foyer of study of her house.
