OK, there's a catch. You can only call users that are also Gizmo users. So the idea is you get everyone you call to get a Gizmo account. Then you can call their landline (and some mobiles) at any time, completely free.

Gizmo Project's latest tactic: free Gizmo-to-landline calls anywhere, anytime, any amount, forever. We'll probably be spending a while trying to make heads from tails of their business plan which pretty much totally gives away the shop, but who's really going to be reeling here is the rest of the VoIP telephony industry that's currently clawing desperately to monetize on landline phone replacements.

Has VoIP now just become a standard feature-set of network connectivity, rather than a paid service?

A person is considered active when they are making phone calls with Gizmo Project on a regular basis. We reserve the right to limit call length.

Intersting twist on the usual VOIP practice of free calls to users of the same service. Of course, it all depends on what the consider a "regular basis" for using their service. I'll definitely be watching for them to add numbers in other countries.

Am I right in assuming that if you have [gizmoproject.com...] you don't even need the software? Or will that only work for VOIP-to-VOIP calls?
