I just bought a new laptop as my old dell is geting worn out. The problem is I have a lot of programs that I don't have the discs to. Such as macromedia 6.0 and photoshop 7.01 (all academic versions).
I can't stand the thought of buying new versions as they cost a bunch.
Has anyone successfully migrated the programs? It would be much appreciated as I have seen nothing but bad stuff about the software to do this. Wish I could download the programs again and use my keys. But nothing but newer versions out there.

Some developers will help with locating registration keys. I can't speak for the software you mentioned.

Well, my keys pop up with my registration info when I click on about so no problem there.

try this thread [webmasterworld.com] for a discussion about one package I used for a similar reason. Worked great moving from an old win98 to xp pro machine.

<added> Make sure your old machine is virus and spware clear! This program will move what ever you tell it to, incuding bad stuff in folders.

Well, that's a start. From there you may be able to purchase disks, depending how old the packages are.

Without those, you'll need to consider "that" software you mentioned.

One more question. I found my original disk for MS frontpage 2003. Unfortunately, my kids have switched the cases...long story..so I no longer have the activation number. I still have the program on my old pc..so is there a place I can find the number in there? Unfortunately, unlike other software it does not appear when I click on about in the program. There is a number but not the 25 digit activation number.
Iknow..I know..most hate front page but I lke it for editing pages already on the web.
