Most scammers (I think?) are really poor and I wonder how much this guy lost. I'm all for scamming the scammers, but I think it's cruel when they have to pay out a lot of money. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I don't feel sorry for most of the scammers, just this one. Or this artist - probably not the same person.
If it's another person being scammed, then I do feel sorry for the artist.
But if the scammer is the artist, I certainly don't feel the least bit sorry that be spent a lot his time and effort (esecially if that prevented him from spending time and effort trying to scam other people) and got no reward for it. It's no different from someone who put a lot of time and effort into earning money then got scammed out of that money.
The guy who sent the artwork scam was doing so, to the person who had sent him a scam email..
THE classic scam email of " I have money in my country I need to send out, can I use your bank account " scam..
He was getting back at one of these people that rip people off by ripping them off himself...
He only sent the email as he was sent a scam.. he scammed the scammer.. are you getting the picture now ...?

The other sad thing is that the guy was obviously willing to work for his money, and probably had few options apart from running 419 scams.
I don't have patience with a 419 scammer but it does seem a little cruel to slap them in the face when they try to go straight and find a legitimate income.
I was also able to discover the name and contact details of John's artist and managed to contact him to confirm he had indeed been paid for his work, although he wouldn't tell me how much he was paid!
During our conversations I John told me he was making around $45,000 a month on average from his various scams
That is the much more scarey figure! How many idiots in the world...
About 6 months ago I had somebody send a "check" for $64000 to our local police station in my name. It was a lot of fun. It took about 3 weeks to reel him in, but worth it when I told him he sent it to the police.

Okay, that made me a little sad. The artwork was good, especially the first one. I think even if someone was attempting to scam me, I'd still feel guilty about the art and want to at least send enough money to cover the shipping. And that, that is why I don't mess with the poor scammers.
How can anyone feel guilty for scammers. Lets not forget that these people are criminals and scum - it's that simple. And the money they "lost" sending the piece over is probably from other scam victims anyway.
I would imagine most of the tales these people tell are complete BS, just another way of getting victims.
