This bloke Eric [savelivesinmay.com] claims that a piece of comet will hit the Atlantic Ocean on May 25th and create a mass tsunami that will kill lots of peeps. What do you think?

I think some people take things out of proportion: [andnetwork.com...]

Of course I could always be wrong, but I also may be hit by lightening, twice.

Damn. And just today I ordered 3000 brochures for a trade show this week. Now they'll all get drenched.

<added>
False alarm. Just looked out of the window and noticed I do not live anywhere near the Atlantic.

My guess would be that the bloke has inhaled too much jet fuel. Still... in the event
I do not live anywhere near the Atlantic
Maybe you will.

I predict that even if a piece of the comet DOES strike the Atlantic and cause a huge catastrophe that seople will STILL post in the AdSense forum complaining Google hasn't changed their status to PIP. That's "Payment in Progress" for those who don't read that forum. :)

I'm not worried. I've heard that if a comet hits, only cockroaches will be killed.

Or was that... Wait....

Why did NASA roll out space shuttle Discovery so early for a "July" launch?

Do you think they have Bruce Willis and company training for a secret mission to blow up the space fragment?

I shall consult my friend Noah. He may be able to help us.

I am seeing a distant light in the night sky moving in a different direction than the stars.
I fear this could be it. The horror!
I thank god that the bird flu will take me before it hits.

If the document is not available in English, we may still need a translation.

Reckon they'd better get translating in a hurry...

Also noticed that:

This [Save Lives in May] forum is now stopped until May 26, 2006

...and the "disaster" occurs on the 25th! There's confidence for you... :-)

What a coincidence - the 25th is "World Towel Day [en.wikipedia.org]" in memoriam Douglas Adams.

A coincidence? Here are a few other signs [savelivesinmay.com]. Just scroll down to the end of the page.

"I was paying Adam at Square One Design for the recent round of work – did I mention the webdesigner’s name is Adam? – and I got the following screen from Paypal. Note the security code at the bottom."

Paypal knows already. And the guy he paid his name is "Adam". Adam-Adams-Douglas Adams. The plot thickens...

For those of us not in the general vicinity of the Atlantic (can it be coincidence that I recently relocated to a location about as far away from the Atlantic as it is possible to get without having to wear a Hawaiian shirt?), I have it on good authority that the entire planet will be devoured by a ravening Star Goat with teeth ten thousand miles long on May 26. So don't feel too smug.

Doomsday won't happen on May 25th, umm, or the 26th. This is why [webmasterworld.com]. Maybe this comet fragment is the catalyst for the real doomsday, or simply a test run.

ravening Star Goat
I think I'll wait for the next ship.

Aha, here is the naughty comet [news.bbc.co.uk].

At its closest approach... the comet will be some 10 million km (six million miles) from the Earth.

I'm really, really sorry if you were looking to take tomorrow off in order to prepare for the impending sunshine... er... disaster. Having said that perhaps it might be best to keep watch in the garden all day with a case beers or similar - just to be on the safe side.

Waves up to 200 m high will reach coastlines located above and below the Tropic of Cancer.

And I just washed my car! Hoperfully my place is higher than 200 m high? Its a close call!

Bummer ... the BVI Music Fest starts on the 26th. I hope the tide has ebbed by then. I have chartered a catamaran so my friends and I can watch/hear the festival from the boat over the weekend.

OT - Syzygy ... Sure you can come along! We actually have one unused cabin because friends had to drop out. They have family arriving Friday night!. :(

Not only do we have Jon Lucien (who is great) ... but we got Roberta Flack and The Stylistics! I can't wait. My feet are tapping already. Paradise doesn't get much better than dangling your feet in the Caribbean with a cold one in your hand and listening to some great reggae, doo wop and R&B! :)

Let's give it a bit of time. I'm not completely familiar with timezones, but I believe it is still morning in the Atlantic Ocean.
