Where is holiday today?

I know that today is holiday in many countries, but I'm not sure how many.
I know in Mexico it is. I thought it was in the USA as well, but somewhere I read it is not somehow an "official" holiday though must people take it off.
Does anybody know what exactly is going on here?
My website is getting its worst day this year and I want to figure out where is this comming from. It is a techie site and I get a lot of traffic from India. Is it holiday in India, too?

Labor Day in South Korea. Not an official holiday, but many businesses have it off. (And with the time difference, it was actually yesterday.)

It's May Day here in the UK, a public holiday (we call them bank holidays). Many shops were open, but not offices or banks.

yup May 1st is labour day and is a holiday in India.

In Japan (where I'll be very shortly) May 1 isn't a holiday, but May 3 - 5 are, which is a good excuse for taking the other two days of the week off. Unfortunately everyone does this, and all hell breaks loose. The phenomenon is called "Golden Week".

Yesterday was Beltane (wiccan sabbat), which is not an official Canadian holiday though I like to take it as a vacation day when I can arrange it. This year it fell on a weekend which was nice.

Today in Canada is "tax day" - the deadline for filing our 2005 income tax. Many people will celebrate by blowing their return on tequila.

It's now May 2 in the US and today is Primary voting day. The parking lot here at work is empty. And some of the offices are closed. But I think a lot of poll volunteers work in this building.

PRimary Elections here in the USA. This year it's moslty local and state elections although I think a couple of the house sets are up for reelction. School Board was elected and the people for each party's nominees for the state and local office up this fall were selected. Here localy the big news was that one of the most powerfull men in the State got fired by the people. Isn't that so cool. very rarly are encumbrents not selected in the primary elections and he was one of the bigwigs in the republican party.

Note that in the UK, May Day is not the 1st of April, but the nearest Monday to the 1st.
