scan my site for 404's

does anyone know of a good bot (online or downloadable, that's free) that i can use to find those pesky 404 pages?

my site is entirely dynamic and from time to time i spot yahoo and msn surfing legitimate url's, but somehow got slashed up and are incorrect... like /directory/name.html is legit, but msn was on /directory/.html

and from time to time a legit USER (not a bot) will be on /category/style.css ...whereas /category/name.html is legit (via htaccess rewrite), but style.css is in the root, but somehow gets malformed.

i didn't know what forum to put this in, so if this is an incorrect location, somebody please move it and let me know where it went. :)

checkbot [packages.debian.org] does well, have used it in the past.

how about the w3c link validator? this will also check your broken images and anchors <a name="">
[validator.w3.org...]

you could also use xenu link sleuth which I found worked great.

Finally - you could check your log files and see if there is any 404 hanging around.
