A partial numbness, prickling or tingling sensation is called "paresthesia". It can be caused by nerve damage due to pressure, entrapment (compression) or disease. Occasional paresthesia is common - I get it when I sit on the floor with my legs crossed and my foot goes to sleep. Frequent or chronic paresthesia is a concern, and you should go see a doctor about that. Paresthesia is also a symptom of Carpal Tunnel (something I have had first-hand experience with; pardon the pun)
I am not a doctor. But I am a well-known "quack" who gives out bad medical advice to anyone dumb enough to listen. Be glad you have never been subjected to any of my ridiculous cures for the common cold
