From the BBC -
Pentagon scientists are planning to turn sharks into "stealth spies" capable of tracking vessels undetected, a British magazine has reported. They want to remotely control the sharks by implanting electrodes in their brains, The New Scientist says.

Makes you wonder what they will think of next. Have you noticed that nice pigeon that sits on your window sill peering in......
This is too funny! The shark is one of the oldest (prehistoric) and driven creatures on the planet. They are eating machines. Eating is basically all they do. It will be interesting to see how scientists are able to overcome thousands of years of evolution and the nature of the beast.
Testing their little remote controls on dogfish is one thing ... putting this plan into action with any amount of success with "real" sharks (the big boys who are capable of tracking large ships and keeping up with them) is quite another. They will likely drive the poor beasts crazy or starve them to death.
Just by making this public and putting it out there for "enemies of the state" to read will likely reduce the world's shark population by half in no time at all. I can just see it now ... every major drug runner and all the navies of the world hurling depth charges overboard everytime they see a shark thinking "Big Brother" is following us!
Good one George ... yup ... that's one fine plan ya got there! Yeesh! :(
