Facebook says it's new "Off-Facebook Activity" tool is live for all users. In addition, it'll prompt everyone to review their privacy settings. I do review privacy settings on a regular basis, but this will help remind others.

Other businesses send us information about your activity on their sites and we use that information to show you ads that are relevant to you. Now you can see a summary of that information and clear it from your account if you want to.

I've always thought of the "Privacy Optin" would be like a "Shower Head" in a bath tub. If you close a few holes with your finger the stream from other holes just becomes more intense..... and at some point you simply run out of fingers, but the amount of water coming out of it is roughly the same ;). Closing the water all together would be one solution for that, but not for long. Can't stay clean without taking a shower these days.....

I used the tool and was pleasantly surprised how few outside businesses there were on my list. Some were strange businesses which i'd never heard of, but the vast majority were appropriate to my browsing.
I now have a clear list so i'll monitor how it builds.

I dread to think how other users' privacy list looks, especially if they are constantly clicking the quiz-type links.

"Other businesses send us information about your activity on their sites"

As someone who doesn't use Facebook it seems really odd to me that you'd need facebook to monitor your interations with companies at all.

I don't get it. Well, I know why Facebook wants the information but why do users want to have their spending reported to Facebook? They'll only make it more likely that you'll be seperated from more of your money...

They are already on the web with their like/share button and iframe, this is just a tool for the information gathered.

6 companies on my profile.
