Facebook has said it's tightening its policies on manipulated media and deepfakes.

Going forward, we will remove misleading manipulated media if it meets the following criteria:

It has been edited or synthesized – beyond adjustments for clarity or quality – in ways that aren’t apparent to an average person and would likely mislead someone into thinking that a subject of the video said words that they did not actually say. And:
It is the product of artificial intelligence or machine learning that merges, replaces or superimposes content onto a video, making it appear to be authentic.

It did say that parodies and satire are not affected by this move.
How successful it becomes on this is another issue.

yes and that is covered by 'in ways that aren’t apparent to an average person' ... however what is clear parody to some seems absolutely real to others, so how to police that?

a good example, albeit on twitter is Titania McGrath ... which is a famous parody account, however you only need to glance at the comments to 'her' tweets to see how large numbers of people take them seriously.

Yup, that's a big challenge, and a few weeks back I saw a piece from The Onion being taken seriously.

"tightening its policies on manipulated media"
I bet tightening is a manipulated exaggeration (so they should ban themselves).
Hahaha!
