Facebook is rolling out 3D photos in the news feed and on VR.

It works with a compatible dual-lens smartphone camera, in portrait format and gived the effect of a viewer looking through a window allowing scroll, pan and tilt for a photo-realistic 3D.

"Everyone will be able to see 3D photos in News Feed and VR today, while the ability to create and share 3D photos begins to roll out today and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks. "

Everyone will be able to see 3D photos...
Is this implying that a normal monitor (that does not have 3d capability) will magically be able to view FB's 3d photos?

How to create 3D reality for free:

1. Get off Facebook and turn off your monitor.
2. Look around.

I have seen a few examples of this on Facebook over the past couple of days and it works pretty well. It is a lot like a Parallax shift effect (as phranque started).

It's about time they brought this in. Though the AR stuff is in my opinion is more exciting.
