Facebook is now testing a preview of Messenger Kids aimed at under 13 year olds.
There are safeguards in place, and it's really aimed at keeping the kids in touch with their parents, however, I can't help but being concerned how Facebook is becoming all-encompassing with this move.
To give kids and parents a fun, safer solution, we built Messenger Kids, a standalone app that lives on kids’ tablets or smartphones but can be controlled from a parent’s Facebook account

Approach with caution if parent of 13 and younger. We have entire nations meddling with schools and what are shown/taught to children so can FB be any different (in going down paths most parents will abhor)?

Most 23 year olds aren't fully baked!

It's just a standalone app that enables a parents to feed their Facebook Addiction and helicopter parent their kid at the same time.

I don't see what a kid gets out of this other than a creepy oversharing Facebook parent lurking over their shoulder.
