Hi there,
I am hoping someone can help me. I have ads running on Facebook and I think I have over complicated the whole tracking thing, after messing around on Facebook and custom conversions, I am now using google tag manager as a last resort.
In summary I have a tag in google tag manager that is FacebookBase_ViewContent, which I have placed the pixel code into custom html, and then this also has two triggers, one is landingpage (page view) and then I added an exception that the purchase tag will also fire right before these tags. If I change the URL for the landing page in my facebook ads, do I need to update this tag in google tag manager or can I just create another? I don't want to cause any duplicate conversions. What is best practice in this case?
And where is the best and most accurate place to record these conversions? Google analytics of the Facebook adverts manager?
And lastly I created a UTM for my ad but it does not seem to feeding into my google analytics, it recorded 1 session initially but then I updated the UTM and its no longer feeding in, what did I do wrong?
(Sorry I am still learning)
Thanks,
Claire.
