Facebook is moving into the business of hiring by adding the ability for companies to post jobs on Pages with the Jobs Bookmark. This facility is rolling out in the US and Canada for page admins to post and track applications direct with applicants, and via Messenger. Of course, and here's the good things from Facebook's point of view, the posts can be boosted with a paid activity.

Methinks it's encroaching on a whole new industry and it wouldn't surprise me if some of the big players in the business might raise some eyebrows.

At what point does the offerings on Facebook become too much? Seriously, how much information does FB think it can push onto people before they become blind to it. I know job hunting is a specific area, but speaking for myself, I know I already ignore at least half to three quarters of what pops up in my news feed.

This really is big news for the industry.

It's also big news, too, for people posting on Facebook. Those images posted of the drunken party last week might not look so good when applying for a job interview.

If the Jobs Bookmark is associated with the "Jobs Near You" displayed high on everyone's timeline, a significant number of those are not valid job openings at all.

This prime real estate placement has already been gamed. People are just running ads and these, unlike the sidebar ads, can't be closed.
