Facebook Should Reconsider Terms of Service Changes Say Privacy Groups

Two US privacy groups have asked Facebook to reconsider proposed changes to its terms of service that they say violate commitments to protect users.

In a letter to founder Mark Zuckerberg, the Electronic Privacy Information Center and the Center for Digital Democracy said that the changes could be in contravention of a deal Facebook struck with US regulator, the Federal Trade Commission,

"Facebook's proposed changes implicate the user privacy and the terms of a recent settlement with the Federal Trade Commission," the letter said.

That should go well. Let's see, how many kids have killed themselves because they were being stalked and harassed on Facebook and already didn't have enough ways to block it? (Which, BTW, say what you will about Google, at least YouTube does make it easier to block stuff like that.)

Hopefully, once everyone's getting tons of spam, and emails from those relatives we've been dodging because they're always trying to convert us to some doctrine they believe in, and that old ex-significant other who just knows you're meant to be together, everyone will leave Facebook and go find another platform that actually works AND doesn't need to sell all your non-anonymous data AND doesn't engage in insider trading AND doesn't change everything every five minutes so you have to relearn the platform constantly...

I know I'd be happier. I was dragged kicking and screaming onto Facebook, and I'm just waiting for everyone else to figure out what a bunch of crap it is.
