German traffic numbers

Is it national "No Internet" day?

I have seen a 70% drop in traffic today from Germany. Is there something going on in that would cause people to stop using the web? Is it a national holiday?

It's friday though. Friday is a low traffic day (at least for my sites). How have your fridays been in the past? No pattern?

I can't say Fridays is especially low traffic day - weekends are for me.

Hmm, where's your traffic coming from, did you check positions in Google.de, PPC settings etc?

Well, it was a really weird day. Almost no traffic until 5pm and then loads, making up the numbers to close what I would have expected for the day. I think that it must be to do with a Google update for the site. I did check the positions this morning but couldn't see any changes.

It does seem that Google is updating, and adding pages from, this particular site every few days. That's the way we like it.

Are there any German web habits that I should know about? I am completely new to this market. I heard a rumour that Germans take Friday afternoons off work?
