1 - Google ~60%
2 - Yahoo! ~13%
3 - Voilà ~10%
4 - MSN ~7%
5 - AOL ~4%
6 - Lycos ~2%
7 - Altavista ~1%
8 - Nomade ~1%
9 - All The Web ~1%

Dear French members, you think the above figures are correct - do they meet with your real life logfile data!

Lets see if we can get something similar useful together as done previously with german, scandinavian and dutch numbers!

Good idea heini! :)

Don't have any stats from France to share right now, but it would be nice to break down the technology behind the se's. So, we have:

Google, Yahoo, AOL..
Voila (Wannadoo, own tech?)
MSN (Looksmart/Ink?)
Lycos (Fast)
Altavista (Own)
ATW (Fast)

So, in France like in most other European countries right now, you'll be hitting a huge % of the market with Google, right?

We have this figures for the french market, for sites in french / only in french, without PPC campaign :

1 – Google.fr and Google.com, and oters french version : ~54-56%
2 - Yahoo! ~12-14%
3 – Voilà-Wanadoo ~10-12%
4 - MSN ~5-7%
5 - AOL ~4-6%
6 - Lycos ~2-3%
7 - Altavista ~1%
8 - Nomade ~1%

Alltheweb not very used in french,

When we’re making a french PPC campaign with Overture and Espotting (not on google), the results are interesting, the figures change a lot with the partners of this actors :

1 Voila-Wanadoo France (Ov. the first 10 links are sponsorised)
2 MSN France (Ov.)
3 Yahoo France (Esp.)
4 Google France
5 Tiscali-Nomade (Es. the first 10 and more links are sponsorised)
6 Lycos France
7 AOL France (Ov.)
8 Club-Internet (Ov)
But it depens on a lot of things (management of the campaig, domain, bids, positions, ...)

And for search partners, here some complements :

- Google, Yahoo,
- AOL.fr : own directory (free) and Exalead for the search engine
- Voila (Wannadoo, own tech?) : yes, own tech
- MSN (Looksmart/Ink?) : Own directory, managed by a third party (Cybion)
- Lycos (Fast) : Own directory, managed by 3-4 editors and Fast
- Altavista (Own)
- ATW (Fast)

Thanks, Laurent, very interesting.
Apart from the usual picture - Google totally dominating search - there are some surprises. I would have expected Nomade to show stronger, and I am surprised how strong Yahoo shows in free traffic.

Anybody else feels like sharing their french traffic figures?

Google France 40%
Aol France 20%
Google.com 9%
Voila France 7%
Lycos France 7%
Yahoo France 5%
Msn France 2%
Tiscali France (Nomade) 2%
Free (powered by google)2%
Altavista 2%
Google Canada 2%

The site is in french.
Nomade (now Tiscali) used to show stronger... 2 years ago
Msn is still low but increasing. Especially for the new pages. It is the quickest engine to index my new pages since this dominic story started at google.

Yves, welcome to the board!
AOL (which is Exalead, not Google, powered for french sites) with 20% is amazing - are those directory listings, or spidered listings?

Thanks for the welcome heini.
AOL's 20% are spidered listings
