I am not sure if a sub-editor pared down the article to fit the available space and the article, as it reads does have the kind of discontinuities that sub-editing introduces.
Talking to bloggers only results in a blogger audience . With bloggers, you are largely preaching to the converted. :) But if you can change the way people think and increase knowledge of those outside your field, it is often a good thing to speak to journalists.
The Exalead perspective was a very interesting one as it is not something that you normally see in the press. It was a fairly balanced article, even if it did not cite the website or include attributed quotes. The European search engine business is complex and the article really only scratched the surface. As Europe becomes more connected, the local angle is going to become more important and the big SEs like Google who don't pay attention to developing a good localised strategy will become next year's Altavista.
