The next SE is dead...or what?

Did anyone see, that the SE Acoon [acoon.de] doesn´t have their own Index anymore, but only eSpotting listings?
Seems to be that the next little SE in Germany is gone.

IMHO it's never been a serious search engine nor a serious directory.

Well, I've always been an advocate of a diversified search landscape, it gives the webpublisher and marketeer more options. So in that respect I certainly do not welcome small players falling off the edge.

That said Acoon really didn't do very much to attract users.

oLeon, thats right. Acoon has no own index anymore, since december 2002. Results comes now from Espotting with backfill from Inktomi. Additional they have edonkey Links (Filesharing). Maybe this became a problem, because the german music industry fight again websites with eDonkey music-links.

Between Espotting results you find additional links as
[acoon.de...]

usually 1 link per result page.
