Is there any proof that will show that a site will do better in the specific country thas the site are about.
Example:
mydomin.se should be hosted in Sweden
mydomain.de should be hosted in Germany
mydomain.dk should be hosted in Denmark
I dont see any reason why the sites should give a bigger boost to regional hosted sites.
I can agree with the local domain name but not with the host, i dont think the is such a controll for the nameserver just my thoughts.
It should be a very messy situiation if i got hosts around the world with support and stuff like that.
Can anyone confirm this and spread some light in this question?

In most cases location of hosting is not disatvantagous at this point.
There is however a growing number of cases where location of hosting is a central problem in search engine promotion. Just ask the Irish members....
Then look at AOL - in Germany lots of sites do not show up in the default setting: "German sites", although those sites are in german language and run under the .de. Common factor? Hosting outside Germany.
As I said, this is just the beginning.

I wonder when, if at all this geo searching [google.com] will ever be implemented..
If Google would allow one address per language part of a site, then a lot of this hosting, tld-ing, language stuff would be solved.
I guess they would have to run a parallel check with national telephone directories to prevent spamming and be able to include several Mcdonalds (several addresses on one page) and not just the headquarters.
