Great work, Goblin! Absolutely great. Will update the main entry with your findings after Christmas.

Did you find out anything about Eurosoft? I tried it and the search itself seems pretty quick, but I am not sure if the lines to Bulgaria have any bandwidth at all. The index seems OK. I got 6.000 pages for Sofia - the capital of Bulgaria and 1.700 for Varna, a major sea port. Could'nt figure out how they rank pages, except that keyword in 1st paragraph of text might be important.

Well, i first discovered Eurosoft on your site - i didn't know about them before.

Here's how to submit a site in english on dir.bg (note that they handle sites in english but you have to submit them on a page in bulgarian :))
So:
1) once on the bulgarian home page, click the 5th link on the top row (5th from left to right, 2nd from right to left).

2) you're now on the registration page:
the first field named "URL/" is used to check if your url is already indexed in dir.bg

3)The "1" point helps you finding a category (just like in Yahoo) - well, little problem - it's in Bulgarian... But it's not required for english sites-so you can forget it.

4)The "2" point says it all - just fill in your URL & email. After that, you have three checkboxes: it's about the language - in order: Bulgarian, English, Other.

5)The "3" point is registration in Bulgarian - ignore it, BUT you have to fill in a title (the small field) in Bulgarian. Hummm, well, just write your site's title in cyrillic, that should do.

6)Point "4": here we are :) - Register in English ! Well, you know what to do - first is the title, second the description (no more than 255 characters).

And there's where they say it all - for both the Bulgarian and English submissions, the instructions on the site are: "The words in your description & title are used to narrow the search - if you want your site to appear by a keyword, please include it in your title or description (no more than 255 characters)".

Well, that's it - as the search is the same for english & bulgarian sites, i guess Dir.bg don't use a foreign database when searching for english sites (For ex. Search.bg seems to use Altavista for it's foreign searches BUT i'm not sure).

So - what's the deal about one indexing a site on a bulgarian directory ?
Well...
- Why not ?
- They're the biggest in Bg.
- Even if Bg is a small country, netsurfers there are maniacs - the things we Bulgarians do the best is sites and (unfortunately) viruses, so when there is some bandwith at all (that's not too often...) people spends hours & hours online.
- The level of English is pretty good there - 80% of the surfers will understand you.
