Also a german search facility is up and running [de.overture.com]
My german is very poor..but i tried a search for 'suchmaschine' on both which i think means 'search engine'.
In the international one I think I get things like 'search engine positioning' , 'german search engine', things I would expect.
The German one focuses on engines only if I read it read it right, and although it looks like it is only searching on the last part of the word 'maschine', the results are again quite different from the internatonal one.
Different audiences, cultural differences, my poor German, or just bugs ?
As I heard should all SERPS on t-online come from overture, not only the first three or five results as sponsored links. So is FAST thrown away again from another german portal (after they lost web.de, startseite.de to google...).
Unfortunately I donīt know for sure whether the backup-engine for overture.de is inktomi as itīs in the internatinonal overture. I suggest it īd be that way.
Now I heard from Lycos, that the information about overture on t-online is wrong. They say FAST will be the supplier of the SERPS also in the future.
I am curios about who will be right...
I didnīt test the tool much, yet. But the first impression is the same as on overture.com: one of the best sources to get keywords in relevance to searches on SEs. Not accurate but a very good step into your collecting of keywords.

Ok... so the jury is still out on the confidence issue, but this is a great start.
Just what the doctor.. sorry SEO ordered :-)
There are other sites that offer german keyword suggestion. I think their samples are too small personally and to be frank I'm not that confident of the origins of their databases.
Those are found at
net-soft.de
and
webmasterplan.com
Try them out with a word like "immobilie" (real estate) and play spot the difference. Also include the US version of the overture keyword suggestion tool for something completely different.
So which to chose?
Well I'm going for the new German Overture as their sample at least appears to be much larger than the other 2 alternatives.

Alan

this is my first posting on Webmasterworld.com

This problem with the german keyword suggestion tool based on a other tool, named Match Driver.
It was developing for wordstemming. Wish you bidding for "suchmaschinen" it reduce to "maschine" and show also all matching terms, if it work properly. This time it don't.
I ask Overture Germany. They say, they will solve this problem.
Keep in mind, this is not a official launch for Overture Germany, but it comes in the near future.
All terms are estimations for german user. Around 3 month after launch on T-Online they have a more solid basis for keyword suggestion.
More information:

It's in german but you can use the "translate this site" link, on the right hand site.
Thanks for accepting my invitation. Regulars here will already know your site as a good information source.
>terms are estimations
Really? can't help but thinking they must have collected or acquired some data. If you compare the german tool with the english, for the same keywords of course, you'll find that not only the figures are totally different, but also the suggested combos.
Congratulations on a first rate site btw.
It seems that Overture are a tad confused themselves. I've carried out a keyword suggestion search on the german version where it states that the suggestions are not "Geschätzte" ( estimates) but are based on Decembers database results.
I hope they fix the word stemming bug soon. Can't wait until their database is current and full of t-online queries.
I wonder if Wordtracker might include the Overture Germany database at some stage.
Just waiting for the espotting keyword research tool now :-) They claim they are working on it.
