But Eurpoeans not only surfed the web, they also went shopping online for christmas gifts.
According to research by Jupiter MMXI [jupiterMMXI.com] some 33 Millions spent an estimated 2.9bn Euro.
10 Mill. Germans went shopping online, followed by 9 Mill. Britains.
Not astonishingly the big names took up almost all of this cashflow. Amazon, FNAC, BOL leading the way with books and CDs still most bought goods.
While those 2,9 bn EUROs still only make for a very small percentage of the total christmas shopping it is an up of 71% compared to last year.
This growth took place especially in countries where online shopping up to now was mainly done by the younger male part of the population.
Online shopping in Europe has done a huge leap. The potential for growth anyhow, especially in countries like Germany still is immense.
