PS. Regarding what you wrote about the rules...look out, a new sheriff's in town!
We needed to clarify some of the rules of the board as of late. The url dropping for promotion reasons had gotten a bit out of hand backus. I'm not saying that some were trying to take advantage of the new moderators, but it sure felt like it. So I encouraged the above post.
The current difficult issue is that of Conferences. Some of these conferences are complete commercial concerns. I've seen some that were as high as $700+ USD for a one day newbie conference. (do the math). Why should we give a corporate or even not-for-profit organization free advertising? Yet at the same time it is something that our members are interested in and wish to know about as an industry event. So we are trying to feel our way to a policy which we can all live with. Any input on that is welcome.
Just for reference, I get 5-10 requests a week to post about conferences in the forums. They are mostly turned down at this point.
I just wanted to know who is going. In Stockholm it was really fun to meet some guys from the forums. So I thought about having a good time again and put some face to some names.
