Hi,

I just signed up for Google.de's Adwords. Has anyone used it before? How was your clickthrough ratio and what do you think about the program?

I'll keep you informed how it works for me...

Bye, Alex

Hi Alex
Havenīt used it but was thinking about it. Would be nice to hear how this works in Germany. Personally, as a user, I would prefer the top results of a serp to a paid ad, but Iīm sure that does not account for the majority.

Yes Alex, it would be extremely interesting to hear about your experience from this. Myself, I am averaging 2700 referrals per day from Google right now for a Swedish site in English and with 80 countries involved, among them all big European countries. This tells me that the use of Google is increasing rapidly in Europe. I get my referrals on the basis of extremely high page rank and not everyone is so fortunate, so I have been thinking of recommending Google's adword program to customers. But the price tag is high and one has to be sure when it comes to paying customers. That's why your experience would be so valuable to us all.

I have seen several posts in the Google forum about clickthrough rates, so there are your benchmarks.

Just a few numbers:
we started at the beginning of april.

impressions = 5422
clicks = 116
clickthrough = 2,14%
(all together ctr betweeen 0% and 5,56%)

we check our keyword-terms once or txice a week, and when the impressions are about 500 per kw and the ctr is not higher than 2% itīll be removed.

The clickthourgh on my single word terms was too low (< 1%), so I deleted them. Now there are only keyword combinations left, wich filter the visitors much better.

I think that Adwords works only for search terms where the engine provides poor search results. And that's rare on Google ;-)
