BUT -
we have got definetly pages in the index of FAST, which wonīt listed in Lycos.de
So, what is it? A mix of searchresults? Does it mean that Lycos has updated its own results but not the new ones from FAST? I assume, thatīs the point!
rencke,
may be should we add Google.de as a german SE? I know it has not a different database, but a german interface and a german address. And as we all know itīs really a big traffic-supplier.
I saw some results from pages that were spidered from january untill april - and now you can see them appearing...
The date is written under the listings, and I guess all results that has been in the index before got the date 1st of january 1970.
(There are results with the date "12th may 2001" - !)
May be Infoseek.de isnīt that dead...:-))
Looking at the current vacancies they certainly seem to have identified Germany as a key area for growth.
[google.com...]
when they go to Hamburg, I should visit them as a new neighbour...
[200 postings..will I get a price or decoration?]
or carpal tunnel syndrome?
I've got a student placement doing a set of figures for internet use for each language...I'd be surprised if Germany isn't at least pretty close to Spanish as number two Internet language
when we get the figures done I'll post it in a more appropriate thread
Only my congratulations I'm afraid. My backstage lobbying campaign for more stars has borne no fruit yet. But I am not giving up.
Took the new Infoseek for a spin. Looks as if kwd in url and in title is really important, plus a fairly high kwd density in the description. Right? Anything else?
(Added Google to Germany overview.)
Did anybody see a similar thing?
Since the launch of the UK marketplace last November, GoTo UK has delivered more than 120 million leads through its partnerships with Freeserve, Ask Jeeves and LibertySurf. They want to building on this momentum by opening the German marketplace.
They say that they will keep us posted.
first hello to all - I am new here, at least as a member, not as a guest.
I have big trouble with the change of infoseek.de. All of my doorwaypages (on seperate servers) have gone.
I did not us any of the known tricks, I made only normal, non-frame, interlinked pages, every page with different text.
Any similar experiences?
I will try to re-submit and tell you if it was successfull.
I have no personal experience with Infoseek.de but many others have, such as heini and oLeon and I am sure they have some idea of what might have happened.
I have however made a quick test, and it seems that keyword in url and/or page name, title and description is a very important factor. But on the other hand, that is not much change from before (see above). I did however notice one formerly top ranking site that appears to be gone. I will have to look into that a bit further to see what might have happened.
Infoseek has obvously overworked their whole db, which was necessary due to the fact that it had become a web cemetery. I have heard of many people complaining their pages have been gone since. I wouldnīt care too much but just resubmit them. From my experience I can say that freshly submitted pages do not get penalised like in AV. My pages are all indexed for the first time and they are doing very well.
It employs its own spiders, has an index of more than 13 million german language pages form germany, switzerland, austria and liechtenstein. QualiGO relies on the award-winning technology of the swiss based eurospider company.
QualiGO just won the "Infobox 2001", the award of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Informationswissenschaft und Informationspraxis (DGI) for its search technology and quality results.
there is no add url button, though, instead you will either have to "wait" until the spiders eventually index your page. or - you list your page yourself using the pay-per-click keyword auction on QualiGO. (you might know this typ of auction from search engines like goto.com)
so i won't have details on how to optimize your pages for QualiGO - bidding on your relevant keywords will prove much easier than the task of optimizing pages. Any entries with a keyword-bid display the "KlickWert", that is, how much the click is worth to the advertiser.
for the moment, QualiGO and its interface is restricted to german language, please keep that in mind. the technology supports all major european languages, so an expansion to other languages is possible.
myself i am associated with Suchtreffer AG, a leading german SEO company, who started QualiGO as a subsidiary. So if you have any questions about QualiGO please feel free to ask.

I've got a question...what will they be doing with German language sites for International organisations that use a .org .com .net domain and are hosted in a non-German speaking country?
we have one such, and as a charity are not likely to go the pay to register route...or will we get spidered via links to us from sites in Germany, Austria and Switzerland?
national boundaries are getting increasingly irrelevant on the web, and as webmaster of an international multilingual site the bane of my life is the country specific rather than language specific search engine/directory
unfortunately, our spiders do not yet consider .org, .net, .com domains. we have plans to inlcude german language content on these domains as well, but there is no schedule fixed for that.
i don't mean to advertise this here, but the minimum account for the keyword auction is 25 EUR and since your content doesn't seem to be competitive, you can go a long way with just 0,01 EUR/click (the minimum bid).
QualiGO just started out the beginning of this year and is doing very well for such a young engine. but still, there is much to be done. I'll keep you informed when we start indexing international domains as well.

I'll keep my eye open for when you start adding .org domains...thanks...it's useful to get info from the SE side of things
especially since German is our third most used language
As Heini pointed out, Qualigo has been mentioned here before:
[webmasterworld.com...] and also here:
[webmasterworld.com...]
With 2,5 million pages in German in the .com domain and God knows how many others in other domains (19.000 in my little country alone), it seems to me that the limitation in your spiders is a serious one, that will prevent you from giving relevant search replies. Don't you think that will impair your chances of becoming popular?
Edited by: rencke
you are right about the limitation - this is just our first step to "conquer the www" :-)). we think its a good idea to focus on a given area (like german-language domains), set up a strong basis and then expand. so, we don't mean to neglect .com/org/net.
in may - this is in reply to heini - we had 1.3 Million searches on QualiGO itself, increasing rapidly. at the moment, we are striking deals with various other platforms that will likely extend our reach by multitudes. looks like we'll be able to deliver something like 20 million searches by the end of july already. I'll let you know as soon as this becomes material
