Hi,

I am looking for a Canadian credit card processor for online services. Please tell me the companies that you've worked with and if you had any problems.

Also they must accept payments in CAD.

TIA.

Thank you for reply guys!

I looked at those websites...

PaySystems - I couldn't find gateway integration? Is there an API that I can use on my website so that all payments are totaly transparent to my users?

Moneris - Couldn't find any info on their website. Real bad usability issues.

Meramak Bankcard - the statement in "Prices" is very vague: "...There maybe a transaction fee depending upon how you process your sales. $10.00 statement fee and a minimum fee of $5.00 to $20.00." - That doesn't make me feel good at all. I don't want to run into some crazy fees after.

Please tell me what you think.

:)

Use PaySystems - the best

We're with Internet Secure, and are very happy with them.

Namaste:
Do they have gateway? I emailed them few times, they never responded.

Ally_Cat:
Internet Secure defenetly doesn't have gateway, I've talked to them many times. Asking questions and all that... It took me about 5-7 emails to get the definite answer that they do not have gateway. They kept beating around the bush. I don't know if they were trying to trick me or they didn't know what I wanted...

I'm not sure what gateway is myself, sorry!

I want to be able to process cards totally transparent to my users. I don't want to redirect them to merchant site. I want to take all the information myself and then pass it on to merchant, receive confirmation/error codes and then generate my own "thank you" messages or error messages..

they have a gateway, and your name + tel no. will appear on the cardholder's statement. Gateway options include 1st Auth & then capture.

They also pay weekly, which is better than anyone else.

Plus company is stable and experienced.

I don't know of any Canadian merchant processors willing to do that, moltar. I discussed that idea at one point with PaySystems, and their answer was simply "no way, no how". Internet Secure told me that it is the banks requirement that all information be collected on the processors servers, and not on the merchants.

Ally_Cat:

I wonder how other Canadian companies collect money? There are lots of websites that do not redirect users to second party.

For example: chapters, futureshop, etc...

The way I see it is that merchants make it less secure by trying to add security.

Now if I will not find a good merchant that will accept gateway payments, I will have to email CC information to myself and enter it manualy. Of course I am going to make it secure as possible, but that just adds extra problems.

I've just been looking for a CDN provider as well and have come across www.psigate.com - their rates are bit steep but they handle both the merchant account and the processing for you and the email I got from a sales guy says they have a gateway. They also plugin into many different carts/storefronts.

Come to think of it, when I buy on Amazon.ca I don't get redirected to an offsite merchant account either. I wonder if these companies are using US merchant accounts that accept Canadian dollars? Each one of these large merchants has a US component, so it wouldn't surprise me. I just browsed chapters.ca to see if I could find out who their processor is, but no luck. Maybe they are able to work direct with the banks because they are so big?

>>Maybe they are able to work direct with the banks because they are so big?

bingo - size plus the $$$ for custom integration with the Candian bank systems is how they do it. All the banks have systems up here for ecommerce - they're just not equipped to handle the small biz people.

oilman: yes, I've checked them out as well. They are defenetly one of the best, but also pricy. I guess I shouldn't be a sting and shell out the cash :)

Ally_Cat: well, that is true, but as far as I know Future Shop is purely Candian company. Isn't it? I guess companies of that size can afford some custom solutions straight through a bank or something of that sort...
