Has anybody ever used a "virtual" merchant account like PayQuake? They offer a merchant account with no setup or monthly statement fees. Their catch is they have a higher discount rate and per transaction fee. But for companies that do not have heavy volume, this would be ideal.

They work with Authorize.net, and all the credit card forms and processing is on their server. You just link to it, but supposedly the user does not know he is leaving your site.

This sounds too good to be true... Has anybody ever used them?

I don't know how they do it exactly, but its not the typical interface one expects. Many buyers want the final confirmation page before submitting the order. More than a few have written to me asking if an order went through because they were not presented with that screen. Authorize.net is "popular" but their processing method and interface had me running back to 2checkout. Try performing a partial credit on Authorize.net sometime... You'll see what I mean.

PayQuake's "Pay for Plan" plan is very attractive. But make sure they don't "accidentally" sign you up for the wrong merchant account. I've been struggling with them the last month trying to have them switch me to the plan I originally signed up for. This is just my experience, and I realize some sign-ups are trouble-free.

Hi,
Yes, I use "Payquake". I have a small gift basket website. It works out perfect for me. I haven't had any problems, knock on wood. I've been using them for about 6 months now.

Their terms seem quite good if you are based in the US but pretty awful if you're not!
