It seems to me that many buyers are like scared little mice. If they sense anything that seems either confusing or inconsistent they turn and run.
We don't deal in physical products that get shipped. Our business is in travel related services that are consumed during the buyer's vacation. So I believe that there may be an added element of skepticism because people will be worried that they'll get 5,000 miles from home and not receive what they paid for.
Can any of the pros here give advice on various means to put peoples minds at ease about doing business online? Do things like the trust logo, live chat etc. help boost confidence?
Things that reassure me are:
1. a proper contact page with full business address, registration numbers etc.
2. (if I've never heard of the company) a photo of swanky offices adjoining the airport (or wherever the company claims to be)
3. membership of industry organisations (not Trust particularly)
4. independent reviews on other sites.
1, Contact number displayed for all to see.
2, Information about who/how to contact if when arriving at destination and no product/service is there.
3, A very comprehensive FAQ.
4, more than Trust logo or Live Chat, the crucial thing is to let them know, that EVERY possibility/scenario has been thought of, and all situations can be resolved.
furthermore all this should be again sent in the email confirmation, as most people will print this and take it away with them.

I strongly agree on the email confirmation too. That last word of advice is the most important for me. We have found over time that people just simply feel reassured somehow just by that simple email.
If you do it the way Shak recommended, I think all will be great mbennie
Good luck,
