Japanese vs American Online Spending

My ecommerce site is translated into the 5 major European languages (French, German etc) but I notice that purchases come exclusively from the English version, and of those the breakdown is 95%USA - 5%UK.

Since my product is Buddha figurines I am considering a Japanese translation, but I wonder whether the expence will be worth it.

Do the Japanese spend easily online or not. And are they comfortable ordering from a foreign company?

we sell to japanese buyers (but not a strong market for us), although we sell a european product unavailable in japan.

just wondering if a customer in a buddhist country would want to import a figurine when they may be available locally?

The molds for my figurines are my molds - not available anywhere else.

Hello insyte1, I don't know much about ecommerce, but I do know it is not so difficult to find a shop with Buddha figurines here in Japan. It won't be easy to sell, even if you can get a Japanese translation of your pages. Maybe you should start a thread in the Asia and Pacific Region [webmasterworld.com] forum. Some of the members posting there, should be able to give you some advice.
