Looking for a Payment Processor

I'm having problems finding a decent 3rd party payment processor.

I'm starting up a small online business, & I want to be
able to take online payments without a merchant account.

I've already tried PaySystems & 2Checkout but their
customer service is a joke.

I considered PayPal, but I've heard some bad things about
them - especially on www.paypalsucks.com

I signed up with iBill - or tried to! They don't charge a setup
fee, so I thought I'd give them a go, but I got bogged down
with their sign-up process. They claim to offer a turnkey solution,
but that's not the case. You have to gain shell access & create a
.htpasswd file - like a lot of people, I've never been involved with
shell access before, & there is no real guidance on the iBill site.
Also, you have to give them ftp access to your hosting account.
I sent them an e-mail a couple of days ago, & I'm still waiting for a reply.

Eventually I want to set up my own affiliate program, so ideally I want
a service which offers this capability, or at least which is easy to integrate
with a 3rd party program.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Im looking into Protx - although you need a merchant a/c from your bank - ive heard they are very good and only charge 5p per transaction - no other costs.
