What has been your experience with sales and news events? Example: I noticed that the very sad news of yesterday's shuttle tragedy may have effected my sales. Daily sales of products were cut 90%...Did anyone else experience this?

Oh yes, i remember very clearly after Sep 11, sales where down for around 2 months afterwards.
Can't comment on the last tragedy though.

Depends what you're selling. My friend made a fortune selling gas masks after September 11 attack.

In our travel related business, the bombing in Bali had a big effect here on the ground. Lots of cancellations. But the web effect lasted only a few days - about 50% cut in site visitors, then back to normal.
