If you're in it for the long haul, building a strong brand means always creating a positive user experience, even if they're unsubscribing, opting-out, etc.

Direct Magazine makes some useful observations on the topic in their new issue.

Keep your branding elements intact

Many e-mail systems seemingly force you into their way of unsubscribing users. The legacy off-the-shelf list servers ... often spit out computer jargon for registration and unsubscribe confirmations. Unless properly configured, the subscriber may not even know what the message is for, let alone miss a great opportunity to hear from you on your brand, call to action, etc.

Yeah Opt-Out will become even more important when the New EU laws become effectful (31th of October)
If it isn't easy enought for the user to Opt-Out the company can end up losing money (If i understood it correctly)
